A criminal investigation has been launched against poachers who used boat oars to attack environmentalists in the Tashkent region, as reported by the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to reports, on April 29 of this year, officials from the Tashkent Region's Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change were conducting environmental monitoring along the Syrdarya River. During the inspection, it was discovered that two individuals were fishing with a motor boat and nets in violation of Uzbekistan's hunting regulations, in the section of the river passing through the village of Korik, "Eltamgali" neighborhood, Oqqorgon district.

When the poachers were confronted about their illegal activities, they assaulted the environmental inspectors with boat oars, causing them to fall into the water before fleeing the scene.

On May 2, the Oqqorgon district prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case against the two individuals under part 2 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and they were detained as a preventive measure.
