In Bogdod District of Fergana Region, a deputy mayor was caught in possession of $8,000, the State Security Service reported.

According to the report, a joint operation conducted by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes in Fergana Region intercepted the deputy mayor while he received the money, stopping his illegal actions.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the official, abusing his position, had promised to transfer ownership of a 2.4-sotikh plot of land—initially won by a resident of Beshariq District through an electronic online auction under a lease agreement—to another individual as private property.

A criminal case has been opened against the deputy mayor, and investigative proceedings are ongoing.

It is worth noting that previously, a deputy governor in Syrdarya Region and an assistant governor in Navoiy Region were also apprehended in similar cases.
