Suspects transporting 34 kilograms of narcotic drugs through Kyrgyzstan’s Batken region to Uzbekistan have been detained. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported the case.

According to the ministry, the criminal case is being investigated under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which establishes liability for the illegal manufacture and sale of narcotic drugs.

According to the investigation, law enforcement officers received information that a citizen born in 1993, identified as E.E.Y., had organized the import of a large quantity of hashish from Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan for further sale.

The suspect was detained while attempting to sell the drugs. During the search, Interior Ministry officers found three packages wrapped in yellow adhesive tape on him and in his vehicle. The total weight of the seized substance was about three kilograms.

Later, during a search of the detainee’s residence, 31 similar packages containing narcotic substances with a total weight of 31 kilograms and 398 grams were found. As a result, the total weight of the seized drug consignment amounted to 34 kilograms and 448 grams.

A forensic chemical examination has been ordered to determine the exact composition of the seized substances. Investigators are considering the possible existence of an international drug trafficking channel. According to the Interior Ministry, the drugs were being transported from Tajikistan through Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan.

Additional operational measures were also carried out in Uzbekistan. As a result, Uzbek law enforcement agencies seized 14 kilograms of hashish and one kilogram of opium, and detained a citizen born in 1995, identified as Kh.T.T., on suspicion of involvement in the criminal group. Authorities are currently identifying all participants in the drug supply channel and the routes used for transportation.

Earlier, a man was detained in Chust district of Namangan region after 517 poppy plants were found growing in his household garden.
