A woman attempting to take Uzbek girls to Turkey under the pretext of offering high-paying jobs was detained at Tashkent International Airport. This was reported by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital.
According to the report, during a search operation at the airport, a woman identified as S. was apprehended by the search and rescue unit of the Internal Affairs Directorate. She had gained the trust of another woman through social networks and was attempting to take her abroad after promising her lucrative employment.
A search of her belongings, conducted in the presence of witnesses, revealed a foreign passport, airline tickets for a Tashkent–Istanbul flight, and mobile phones—all documented in accordance with established procedures.
It was later discovered that the woman, who introduced herself as “Leila,” had been inviting girls from Uzbekistan to Turkey for the purpose of prostitution and offering them jobs there.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (human trafficking). Preliminary investigations are currently underway.
It is worth noting that earlier, under the supervision of the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan who had been wanted on human trafficking charges was extradited from Istanbul to Tashkent. This individual, who had also promised women high salaries abroad, confiscated their passports upon arrival and forced them into prostitution.
