In Uzbekistan, performers who violate copyright laws risk having their licenses revoked, the Ministry of Justice has announced.
According to current legislation, in cases of systematic or gross one-time violations of license conditions by a licensee, the relevant licensing authority is required to petition the court to revoke the license.
The Ministry emphasized that violations of copyright and related rights by artists involved in concert and entertainment activities are considered serious breaches of license terms.
In line with this policy, and based on complaints submitted by poets and composers, the Ministry of Justice has provided information on 10 performers who were found to have violated copyright regulations and were held administratively liable in 2024 and 2025. The information was forwarded to the state institution “Uzbekconcert” with a request to take appropriate measures to revoke their licenses.
One notable case involved singer Sardor Mamadaliev, who was found to have used the poem “I Need an Unloved Friend” by Fergana poet Ilhomjon Kamilov without the copyright holder’s permission or a contractual agreement.
