Sardor Umurzakov appointed advisor to the President on Strategic Sevelopment

Sardor Uktamovich Umurzakov has been appointed Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Strategic Development. The announcement was made by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov.

According to the presidential decree, Umurzakov has been relieved of his previous position as Advisor to the President on Special Assignments in connection with his new appointment.

Background Information

Sardor Umurzakov was born on November 23, 1977, in Tashkent. He holds a bachelor's degree from Tashkent State University of Economics and a master's degree from Reading University in the United Kingdom.

His previous positions include:

  •  Deputy Head, First Deputy Head, and Head of the Tashkent City Treasury at the Ministry of Finance;
  •  Advisor and later Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekcharmpoyabzali association (2014–2018);
  •  Chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat association following its reorganization (2018–2019);
  • Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade (appointed January 28, 2019);

Head of the Presidential Administration (appointed July 16, 2022).

After the position of Head of the Presidential Administration was dissolved in August 2023, Umurzakov served as Advisor to the President on Special Assignments, a role he held until his current appointment.
