Shavkat Mirziyoyev also awards Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia

On January 26, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the leadership of the Olympic Council of Asia and participants of the organization’s General Assembly. During the meeting, he presented the high state award of Uzbekistan, the Order of Friendship, to Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia and President of World Aquatics, Husain Al Musallam. The information was reported by the president’s press service.

According to the report, at the beginning of the meeting, the newly elected President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

President Mirziyoyev, in turn, expressed gratitude to the Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia for the high level of trust shown in Uzbekistan as a reliable partner of the international sports movement and for the decision to hold the organization’s General Assembly in Tashkent.

During the meeting, it was also noted that Uzbekistan is ready to further strengthen cooperation with international sports organizations and to implement joint programs and initiatives aimed at achieving practical results.

At the conclusion of the event, the president presented Husain Al Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia and President of World Aquatics, with the Order of Friendship in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of sport and the strengthening of international cooperation in the field.

It is worth noting that earlier, President Mirziyoyev attended the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia and awarded Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, who was elected President of the organization, with the National Olympic Committee’s Order of Honor.
