Liability for violations related to cold weapons has been strengthened in Uzbekistan. This is provided for by the law adopted on April 17 this year, titled “On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with further improvement of the system for early prevention of offenses.”

According to amendments to the Code of Administrative Responsibility, carrying items that can be used as cold weapons openly in public places—except when related to professional, sporting, or household activities—may result in a fine. If the same offense is committed again within one year after an administrative penalty has been imposed, a fine ranging from one to five times the base calculation amount (BCA) will be applied.

In addition, amendments to the Law “On Weapons” stipulate that individuals who have committed violence against children may have their right to possess and carry civilian weapons restricted for the duration specified in a protection order. In such cases, weapons and ammunition will be confiscated by internal affairs authorities.

The law will enter into force on the date of its official publication.
