On the 9th anniversary of the death of the first President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, his daughter Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva responded to public reactions to her earlier remarks and to Sherzodkhan Kudratkhodja, rector of the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan, who addressed her as “our sister.”
Karimova, who had said that “if Uzbekistan has not turned into Syria, it is due to the wise policy of Islam Karimov,” wrote on her social media page:
“I am not a sister to those who do not respect my father. Fortunately, I have no political ambitions for those who demanded a meaningless response to my post on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the death of the first President. That is why I have no intention of entering into any controversy.”
She concluded her statement with a Russian proverb: “Don’t stir up a quiet disaster.”
Earlier, Sherzodkhan Kudratkhodja, reacting to Karimova’s words, reminded her of her father’s mistakes and advised her to “not scratch where it does not itch,” while also emphasizing that “if Uzbekistan did not turn into Syria, it is due to the wise policy of Islam Karimov.”
