The reconstruction of the bridge located in front of Tashkent International Airport cost 511 billion soums, according to Bobur Elmurodov, head of the project at “Ko'prikqurilish” JSC, as reported by the newspaper "Oʻzbekiston Bunyodkori".

The newly built overpass is capable of accommodating up to 5,000 vehicles per hour and 132,000 vehicles per day. The total cost of the project amounted to 511 billion soums.

“The four-lane overpass stretches 693.5 meters in length and is 62 meters wide. The project also includes pedestrian and bicycle paths, along with an integrated irrigation system. The pedestrian walkway is designed to be spacious—15 meters wide—while the bicycle lane measures 13 meters, providing comfortable movement for users,” said Elmurodov.

He noted that the bridge was constructed using modern prefabricated monolithic technology. The main span of the bridge was built using 42-meter-long beams.

“This marks the first time such engineering methods have been applied in Uzbekistan. The barriers installed along the overpass are intended to minimize damage to vehicles and passengers in the event of traffic accidents. This new 360-degree protective technology is also being used in the country for the first time,” said the head of “Ko'prikqurilish.”

In addition, four concourse lanes and two trestles will be added to the structure, all to be constructed using monolithic techniques.

For reference, the overpass—located along Babur Street—was originally built in 1967 and underwent its first reconstruction in 2008.

It is worth recalling that in August 2023, five beams collapsed during the reconstruction of this bridge. The updated bridge was officially inaugurated remotely by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on October 25, 2024.
