Reports circulating in the media claiming that an Uzbek citizen died as a result of a fire in South Korea have not been confirmed, according to Dunyo.
The Consular and Legal Department of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the country’s diplomatic mission in Seoul remains in constant contact with South Korean authorities and is clarifying the circumstances of the incident. It was stated that there are no Uzbek citizens among the deceased.
Diplomats from Uzbekistan’s Embassy in South Korea visited the scene and determined that the person who died was a 60-year-old citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It is worth noting that earlier, Yonhap News reported that following a fire at a household goods manufacturing plant in South Korea, an Uzbek citizen was reported missing. According to the outlet, of the 83 employees working at the factory at the time of the fire, 81 were evacuated in time. However, contact was lost with one employee, believed to be a Nepalese citizen in his early 20s, and another employee believed to be an Uzbek citizen in his early 50s, who were presumed missing.
