Uzbekistan plans to establish 18 dendrology parks and 15 botanical gardens across the country, according to a meeting held by the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change on 22 November, reported QALAMPIR.UZ.
Under the decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 18 November, titled “On Measures to Organize the Activities of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” a draft regulatory document is to be developed by December 2025 to guide the establishment of these parks nationwide.
According to QALAMPIR.UZ, the first dendrology park is planned for the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent, on a 250-hectare site adjacent to the Academy of Sciences’ Nuclear Physics Institute. The project will receive funding of 335 billion Uzbek soms from the Ecology Fund.
The second dendrology park will be located in the Bektemir district’s Nurafshon neighborhood, near the Chirchiq River, covering 181 hectares. It is allocated 242.5 billion soms from the Ecology Fund.
The third dendrology park will be established on a 77.9-hectare area in front of the “Green University,” spanning the borders of Tashkent and Qibray districts. This park will receive 104 billion soms from the Ecology Fund.
In addition, a botanical garden will be created by November 2026 on an 81-hectare site in the Sergeli district’s Khonobodtepa neighborhood of Tashkent, with funding of 108.5 billion soms from the Ecology Fund.
The development of these projects involves the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, the Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional administrations, and the Tashkent city administration.
Funding for dendrology and botanical parks will come from waste utilization fees, contributions to the nationwide “Green Space” project, sponsorships, donations, and local budgets.
