The President of Uzbekistan submitted a proposal to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis to dismiss Bakhtiyor Jahongirovich Islomov from the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan.
A meeting of the Council of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was held today, June 18, chaired by Senate Chairperson Tanzila Norboyeva. The meeting considered the issue of making changes to the composition of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan.
According to the report, based on the President’s proposal, the Council of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis adopted a resolution to dismiss Bakhtiyor Jahongirovich Islomov from the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan.
He had held the position since August 2022. It should be noted that Bakhtiyor Islomov left the post ahead of schedule. The previous Supreme Court Chairman, Kozimjon Komilov, also left early — two months after taking office.
For reference, Bakhtiyor Islomov previously worked as a judge in Fergana and Tashkent regions and served as Chairman of the Tashkent City Criminal Court until November 2020. In November 2020, he was appointed First Deputy to Tursinkhan Khudaybergenov, Presidential Adviser on the protection of citizens’ rights and work with appeals. A year later, he began working as Presidential Adviser on coordinating the activities of law enforcement and supervisory bodies, replacing Rustam Inoyatov.
