The Almalyk State Technical Institute will be created on the basis of the Almalyk branch of Tashkent State Technical University. This is stipulated in Presidential Resolution No. 279, “On the Establishment of the Almalyk State Technical Institute,” signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 8.
According to the resolution, all students currently studying at the Almalyk branch will continue their education at the new institute. Graduates from the 2025–2026 academic year onward will receive diplomas issued under the institute’s name.
Senior students will also have the opportunity to participate in paid internships.
An advanced engineering school specializing in geology, metallurgy, and technology—named “GeoMetTech”—will be established within the institute. Students with strong academic performance will be admitted to this school through a competitive selection process and trained under special practice-oriented programs.
Industrial partners aligned with GeoMetTech’s focus areas will be identified, and modern laboratories will be created to provide technical and technological support.
It is worth noting that earlier this year, it was announced that ToshTech Technical University would be established in Tashkent.
