During a video conference meeting held today, January 27, at the Security Directorate under the Main Department of Internal Affairs, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that the heads of law enforcement agencies are failing to set an example for the rest of the country.

The head of state criticized responsible officials for their inability to move away from outdated approaches, despite the fact that the capital has sufficient resources, manpower, and scientific potential.

“The heads of the capital’s law enforcement agencies — the acting prosecutor A. Urmonov, internal affairs (Sultonkhodjaev), the department (first deputy Kenjaev), security (Berliboev), the National Guard (Ortiqov), the courts (Ismoilov), justice (first deputy Nazarov), customs (Saidov), and the tax authority (Nasimjonov) — are not serving as an example for the republic,” the report said.

It was also noted that problems have accumulated due to the improper organization of preventive services in Tashkent.

According to the President, heads of internal affairs bodies gather preventive inspectors at 7 a.m. and again at 10 p.m., holding lengthy meetings. Instead of working directly on preventing offenses, inspectors are being involved in collecting utility debts and alimony payments, conscription-related tasks, and other public duties.

“As a result, they cannot be found in the neighborhoods. I personally sent people to several mahallas. Most of them were not at their workplaces or were engaged in other tasks,” the President said.
