Fraudsters attempting to sell 50 acres of land in Tashkent for $4 million have been detained, the State Security Service reported.

It was stated that the office manager of an LLC engaged in construction design and a 35-year-old man involved in brokerage activities colluded and deceitfully gained the trust of an entrepreneur in the capital. In particular, they agreed to sell him 50 acres of land in the Mirzo Ulugbek district, which did not belong to them, for $4 million. As part of the deal, they demanded $100,000 in advance as a down payment. In addition, they requested $200,000, claiming they could use their acquaintances in high positions to reclassify the land from non-residential to residential, obtain permission to build cottage-type houses there, process architectural and design documents, and carry out other related work.

During a joint operation conducted by the State Security Service and the Department for combating economic crimes, the suspects were caught red-handed while receiving $200,000, with material evidence seized at the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the case under Article 168, part 4, paragraph "a" (fraud) and Articles 28 and 211, part 3, paragraph "a" (bribery) of the Criminal Code, and they were placed in custody as a preventive measure. As part of the investigation, measures are being taken to identify their accomplices.

It is worth noting that earlier, a farmer was caught attempting to sell 18 acres of land for $25,000 in the Samarkand region.
