One person dies in a car race organized in Tashkent

On May 9, at 17:00, a fatal traffic accident took place in Sergeli district, Tashkent. The Road Traffic Safety Department of Tashkent MDIA reported the incident.
The crash unfolded in front of Avtotu's workshop on Qumariq street. A 2000-born driver collided with a pedestrian born in 1997 while operating a Kia vehicle.
The pedestrian succumbed to injuries sustained during the accident upon arrival at the hospital.
Following the incident, the Investigative Department of Tashkent's MDIA initiated a criminal case under Article 266 of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code (Violation of traffic safety regulations). Investigations are underway.
Footage of the accident is circulating on social media, showing two cars racing at high speeds, with one striking a pedestrian.
