Due to adverse weather conditions, specifically dense fog observed in Uzbekistan on January 9, dozens of flights were diverted to alternate airports. The Uzbekistan Airports press service reported this.
According to the statement, Uzbekistan Airways flights HY18 on the Nukus–Tashkent route and HY58 on the Urgench–Tashkent route were diverted to an alternate airport in Samarkand.
Uzbekistan Airways flight HY9834 operating on the Krasnodar–Namangan route also decided to divert to the alternate airport in Samarkand.
Qanot Sharq flight QNT822 on the Seoul–Tashkent route was diverted to the alternate airport in Navoi.
Uzbekistan Airways flight HY766 on the Almaty–Tashkent route was diverted to the alternate airport in Navoi.

For reference, as of 10:00 p.m. on January 8, Uzbekistan’s Hydrometeorological Service reported fog in Tashkent, Jizzakh, Bukhara, Navoi, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Syrdarya regions, Tashkent city, and the regions of the Fergana Valley.
It was noted that in some areas of the Fergana Valley, the fog persisted into the morning hours of January 9 and, in certain locations, continued throughout the day.
Visibility in the cities of Bukhara, Karshi, Termez, Tashkent, Namangan, and Andijan was reported to be between 50 and 100 meters.
