Over 700,000 children to start grade 1 in Uzbekistan in 2025–2026

In Uzbekistan, more than 700,000 students are expected to enroll in grade 1 for the 2025–2026 academic year. This was reported to QALAMPIR.UZ by Dilfuza Sobirova, Head of the Press Service of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
It is noted that for the upcoming academic year, more than 700,000 school-age children are expected to be admitted to grade 1. As of today, 555,564 students, accounting for 79 percent of the planned figure, have already been enrolled.
“It is planned to admit more than 700,000 students, and so far, 555,564 children, or 79 percent, have been enrolled. The admission process is still ongoing,” said the press secretary.
For reference, more than 732,000 school-age children entered the first grade in the 2023–2024 school year, while more than 700,000 were enrolled in the 2024–2025 school year.
