On May 6, Naoya Inoue, the reigning world champion in the second lightweight category (-55.3 kg) in boxing, faced off against Luis Neri of Mexico, triumphing and safeguarding his title.

During the headline bout of the professional boxing event held in Tokyo, Japan, Inoue faced an early knockdown by Neri in the initial round but managed to gain momentum in the subsequent rounds.

Inoue retaliated with a knockdown of Neri in the 2nd round, ultimately securing a TKO victory by the 6th round, thus retaining the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF belts at the age of 31.

The Japanese pugilist may square off against 29-year-old Murodjon Ahmadaliev, a former WBA and IBF titleholder from Uzbekistan, in his next bout.

Currently, Ahmadaliev is in preparation for his upcoming match in the USA.
