Today, September 4, classes began in all higher education institutions of the republic. Some students have enthusiasm in their eyes, while others are watching the streets of the capital with pleasure. But deep thought facial expressions can also be found. The reason is that they are worried about where they will stay today. Most of the students are young boys and girls who have just entered university and graduated from school. They have big dreams from Tashkent, more opportunities are waiting for them from the university. But how did the capital welcome them from the first day? To get answers to such questions, the journalist of QALAMPIR.UZ interviewed students, their parents and relatives.

If I don't pay the tuition fee, I will send him to Russia

It's 9:00 a.m. Classes have already started in higher educational institutions in Tashkent. The student campus in the capital is more crowded than usual. There, along with the students, you can see their parents, beds, and luggage. Our eyes first fell on the father, who was sitting thoughtfully, looking at the ground. The father from Fergana said that his son has entered the engineering department of Tashkent State Technical University, and said that he has not yet decided where to stay in the dormitory.

"I am a disabled person of the 2nd group. Apart from this son, I have two other sons. He enrolled under a tuition fee. If I could not pay it, I will send him to Russia, I have no other choice," says the father, who did not want to reveal his name.

The young man sitting next to father said that he graduated from the Tashkent State Agrarian University, but did not find a job in his field and was engaged in business. He agreed with the father from Fergana and supported the student to go to Russia and work. Then he changed his mind and said that if the child is interested, he should study. After that, we noticed two young students and questioned them.

Because of my family's wishes, I applied for a university

"My name is Mirsaid. There is no problem with a dormitory or an apartment for a Tashkent resident. My father is a driver, my mother is a seamstress. They can pay my contract. I did not apply to university myself. Currently, I withdrew from my IT courses. To tell the truth, I started studying for my family," says Mirsaid.

His friend Mirkamol Saidov said that he was accepted to the management department of the Tashkent State Polytechnic University, but he did not want to study.

"I am not interested in the course which I applied. I have no plans for that. I want to study for one year and then go to Korea," says Mirkamol.

We also asked what they expect from the university and the teachers who teach there.

"I thought that I came to get some kind of knowledge. But now when I entered the class, if I am not mistaken, the dean sat talking about his life. I expected something completely different from the university. "I gave a rating of "4" on the 10-point system," says Mirkamol.

To this question, Mirsaid said that he expects freedom from the university and wants them not to be strict about uniforms.

University does not make a student a genius

After the students, we turned to the officials with questions about how many dormitories they are provided with, the issue of rented houses and problems in the education system.

"We can accommodate 5,700 students. In the first place, those who have a privilege, those in need of social protection are accommodated in a dormitory. In addition, a list of rental houses has been created. The reason for such negative thoughts among students is that they do not know the real opportunity. University does not make any student a genius, if you go to Harvard, if you do not have effort, it will be nothing. The university only directs students," says the press secretary of the National University of Uzbekistan.

I sold my sheep to pay for the tuition fee

Above, the father from Fergana, who did not want to disclose his name, said that he would send his son to Russia if he could not pay the tuition fee. So what about the others? How many students' enthusiasm is killed by the burden of the contract and the backs of parents bent? When we were asked similar questions, some of them said that they sold their livestock, while others said that they paid the contract fee after farming. There were also students who said that they are prosperous, that their parents work in a "big place".

"I signed a contract to study, but my parents do not say that you do not study. We sold our sheep for the contract fee," says our interlocutor named Ulug'bek.

Yesterday I slept at the station, my luggage is in the subway

"I am in my 3rd year, I still do not know where I will stay. I stayed at the station yesterday. Now my luggage is in the subway. I need to solve the issue of the dormitory," said a student named Bahauddin.

Another student said that he would first place his relative in the dormitory, and then he would think about his own problem.

"I entered the field of ecology at Tashkent State Agrarian University. Currently, the dormitory is a global problem. I have to go and correct the document. But first, I have a relative with me, and I have to settle him first," says the student named Ulug'bek.

It is impossible to live with a monthly salary of 2.5 million sum

It is obvious that students came to the capital today. Thousands of students come to Tashkent every year, and most of them do not want to go back to their region. When we asked what was the reason for this, most of them said that the conditions in the city are good, there are many opportunities, and most importantly, the salary is high.

For example, a guy from Kashkadarya who is a student of faculty of history of the National University of Uzbekistan said that he cannot feed his family with 2.5 million monthly income.

"I am 23 years old, I am going to get married next year. But I cannot support my family with 2.5 million monthly in my village. The pay is good here and I do not want to leave. The people of Kashkadarya come and not go," joked the young student.

When we asked the opinion of the girls on this issue, a girl named Shahrizoda, a 2nd year student of the technical university, said that she would not return to the region. Because of this, he said that here he gets new ideas and develops his worldview.

QALAMPIR.UZ wishes all students success in their studies and future endeavors. We hope that the capital will "open its heart" to them more, the number of hostels in the city will increase, and our eyes will not see the wandering students sleeping in the stations. At the same time, we would like to increase the number of higher education institutions in the regions, to create equal opportunities for their education, and not to hear words like "is a student also a person?"
