A minor girl was sexually abused in Kashkadarya

A video depicting the sexual abuse of a minor girl in the Kashkadarya region circulated on social media, sparking widespread protests. The Children's Ombudsman responded to the incident.

On April 24 of this year, the Children's Ombudsman received a complaint from a resident of Chiroqchi District, Kashkadarya Region, regarding the alleged sexual harassment of a minor girl, B.B., born in 2006, who resides in Chiroqchi district. The complaint stated that she was filmed being sexually harassed and threatened with the distribution of the footage.

It was discovered that in July 2023, Sh.Kh. sexually harassed B.B., while J.M. recorded the incident on his phone. Subsequently, J.M. threatened to distribute the video and extorted money from the girl. Even after receiving the money, he continued to threaten her with the distribution of the video.

B.B. (born in 2006) reported the incident to the district DIA by March 30, 2024.

As part of the preliminary investigation, forensic medicine, criminalistics, and biological expertise were conducted.

On April 8 of this year, the General Prosecutor's Office initiated a case under Article 25 of the Criminal Code (Criminal preparation and attempt to commit a crime), Article 118, Part 1 (Defamation), and Article 165, Part 1 (Extortion).

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is currently ongoing.

The prosecutor's office of Kashkadarya region oversees this criminal case, while the Children's Ombudsman continues to monitor its progress.
