Man detained for organizing gambling involving 121 participants

A man has been detained in Yangi Namangan district of Namangan Region for organizing an illegal cockfighting gambling event involving 121 people, the regional Department of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the information, on January 24 this year, during an оператив operation carried out by officers of the Namangan Regional Department of Internal Affairs and the Yangi Namangan District Department of Internal Affairs, a person was identified who had been organizing a risk-based cockfighting game at his residence with the participation of 121 citizens.

During the operation, 12 roosters and more than 12 million soums collected separately from each gambling participant were seized as physical evidence.

In connection with the incident, the individual who organized the gambling activity was procedurally detained. A criminal case was initiated against him by the investigative unit under the Yangi Namangan District Department of Internal Affairs under Part 1 of Article 278 of the Criminal Code (Organizing and Conducting Gambling and Other Games Based on Risk). Investigative actions are currently ongoing.

Earlier, it was reported that a group of individuals had been detained while gambling in Shahrixon district of Andijan Region.
