Man detained for attempting to sell 5 hectares of land for $60,000

A man has been detained in the Samarkand region for attempting to sell 5.1 hectares of farmland belonging to a farming enterprise for $60,000. This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the report, a local resident filed a complaint with the department for combating the misappropriation of land resources under the criminal investigation unit of the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs.
Based on the complaint, a joint law enforcement operation was conducted by the regional prosecutor’s office and other law enforcement agencies. During the operation, the complainant stated that the suspect had offered to sell 5.1 hectares of irrigated land belonging to the “B.B” farm, located in the “Talliota” mahalla citizens’ assembly of Taylak district, for $60,000. The suspect also promised to arrange the necessary documentation through contacts among officials. He was apprehended while receiving $30,000 in advance as part of the agreed amount, with material evidence secured.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 25 and Article 168, Part 4, Clause “a” (fraud) of the Criminal Code. Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, it was reported that a deputy head of a department at one of the banks in the Andijan region had been detained with a $40,000 bribe.
