Earlier, it was reported that children in preschool educational institutions in the Piskent, Buka, Akkurgan, and Kuyi Chirchik districts of the Tashkent region were poisoned. It has now been revealed that 109 children were hospitalized as a result of the incident. This was reported by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
According to the ministry, on September 25, Minister of Preschool and School Education Ezoza Karimova and Deputy Minister Azizbek Turdiev visited the affected preschools in Kuyi Chirchik, Akkurgan, Piskent, and Buka districts to personally investigate the situation.
“The situation is under the control not only of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education but also of relevant organizations. In particular, in cooperation with regional law enforcement agencies and local governments, the current condition of the kindergartens and the situation in the canteens were inspected. Close communication was held with kindergarten leaders and educators,” the report said.
It was reported that 12 children in Kuyi Chirchik district and 97 children in Akkurgan district remain under medical supervision, and their condition is stable. As a precautionary measure, in cooperation with relevant organizations, children in preschool educational institutions in Piskent and Buka districts are also being monitored by doctors. So far, no serious health risks have been identified.
The situation is under control by law enforcement agencies, and an investigation has been launched.
It should be noted that earlier, following this incident, the Investigation Department under the Tashkent Regional Department of Internal Affairs reported that a criminal case had been initiated under Part 1 of Article 257-1 of the Criminal Code (Violation of sanitary legislation or rules for combating epidemics), and a preliminary investigation had begun.
According to initial findings, the changes in the children’s health may have been caused by low-quality dairy products. It was found that the 3.2% kefir delivered to preschool educational institutions on that day was produced in one of the workshops in the Akkurgan district.
