Today, February 22, a major boxing event will take place in Saudi Arabia, where Uzbek boxer Isroil Madrimov will face American fighter Vergil Ortiz for the WBC interim welterweight championship.
The main event of the evening will see Russia’s undisputed light heavyweight champion, Artur Beterbiev, defend his title against top contender and fellow Russian, Dmitry Bivol. Meanwhile, the welterweight clash between Madrimov and Ortiz will determine the WBC interim titleholder. The fight is expected to begin around 23:40 Tashkent time.

For reference, Beterbiev and Bivol previously fought on October 12, 2024, where Beterbiev won by decision, becoming the undisputed light heavyweight champion.
Madrimov last fought on August 3, 2024, when he lost by decision to undefeated boxing legend Terence Crawford.
It should be noted that yesterday, February 21, Madrimov and Ortiz participated in the official pre-fight face-off ceremony.
