Bloggers promoting online gambling faces charges 

The bloggers who promoted online gambling and bookmaking through the social media have been held accountable, the Committee for the development of competition and protection of consumer rights has reported. 

According to the investigations, bloggers who have hundreds of thousands of followers on social media have been advertising bookmaking activities on their pages. 

In particular, videos posted promoting gambling as well as using “Melbet” bookmaking trademark were found belonging to citizens Amirkhan Utkir ogli Shamsiddinov (amirxan_uzbek) and Doniyor Maruf ogli Ilosov (donik_krash). 

The bloggers have been held accountable regarding the abovementioned cases and the relevant documents have been forwarded to the court. 

According to the article 46 of the “Advertising law”, the advertisement of gambling and gambling-related activities is banned in Uzbekistan. Advertising such activities will lead to appropriate liability.  

Earlier, a blogger in the Ferghana regions was detained for advertising online gambling on his instagram page.
