Saida Mirziyoyeva, the Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan and eldest daughter of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took part in the forum “Women Are Leaders, Changing the World for the Better” in Bishkek on August 20. The event was reported by AKIpress.
In her speech, Mirziyoyeva highlighted key issues such as gender equality, the challenges women face after marriage, and human rights.
“Humanity has reached incredible heights, strived for Mars, opened new horizons in artificial intelligence, and found cures for diseases once thought incurable. Yet we are still lagging behind in ensuring the most important thing—true equality. Today, discussions and negotiations on the basic rights of women continue in all corners of the world,” Mirziyoyeva stated.
She pointed out a recurring problem in society: when girls marry, they often abandon their ambitions and become absorbed in household responsibilities.
“I see too many cases where girls who excelled in school and dreamed of a bright future disappear from society once they marry, left only with domestic worries. Unfortunately, marriage and family life are too often viewed as the culmination of a woman’s status and social advancement,” she said.
Mirziyoyeva also reminded participants that two years ago Uzbekistan became the first country in the region to adopt a law against domestic violence. She noted that women now make up 38 percent of the country’s parliament. At the president’s initiative, master’s degrees have been made tuition-free for all girls, and within a year, 15,000 female students were admitted on scholarships.
“I have always been inspired by the achievements of other women. Today, looking at you, I feel immense pride. You are women who are changing people’s lives and influencing the fate of your compatriots. We are the heirs of Kurmanjon Datka and Tomyris. This is the history of our shared pride, strength, and victories. I am confident that our countries will accomplish much for this world and make it a better place for future generations,” Mirziyoyeva concluded.
The forum was held at the government headquarters with the participation of Kyrgyzstan’s First Lady Aigul Japarova, along with prominent women from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
It is worth noting that during her visit to Bishkek, Mirziyoyeva was also received by President Sadyr Japarov. At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including the strengthening of cultural, humanitarian, and educational ties between the two countries.
