Tragic case in Fergana: Husband kills wife and 2-year-old daughter over alimony

In the Nursuh mahalla of Uzbekistan district, Fergana region, a 34-year-old man killed his wife and 2-year-old daughter due to a dispute over alimony payments, the press secretary of the General Prosecutor’s Office, Hayot Shamsutdinov, told QALAMPIR.UZ.

According to the official, on November 3 at around 18:00, the man, born in 1991, had an argument with his wife, born in 1998, over alimony for their child. During the altercation, he attacked his wife and their daughter, born in 2023, with a kitchen knife, causing fatal injuries, and then fled the scene.

Both the woman and the minor child later died in hospital as a result of their injuries. A criminal case has been initiated against the man under Article 97 (intentional murder) of the Criminal Code, and he was apprehended following due procedural measures.

Previously, a similar case was reported in Uzun district of Surkhandarya region, where a man abused his wife and newborn child, keeping them forcibly in a barn for five months.
