Individuals detained for causing 1.3 billion soums in environmental damage in Kashkadarya

Individuals who illegally extracted non-metallic sand and gravel mixture in Kashkadarya region, causing more than 1.3 billion soums in damage to state and public interests, have been detained. The Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office reported this.

According to the department, during a pre-investigation check conducted by its Kashkadarya regional office, it was established that citizen N.N. and others had conspired and illegally extracted 26,614.4 cubic meters of non-metallic sand from the section of the Kashkadarya River passing through the Qoshkapa mahalla in Kamashi district. As a result, they caused 665.5 million soums in damage to state and public interests.

In another case, during a pre-investigation check conducted by the department’s Chirakchi district office, it was found that responsible persons of S.O. private enterprise had illegally extracted 15,338.8 cubic meters of non-metallic sand and gravel mixture outside the designated boundaries of the Chiyalinskoye (1973) deposit. Their actions caused 400.2 million soums in damage to state and public interests.

In Mirishkor district, citizen M.M. and others were found to have conspired and illegally extracted 9,755.7 cubic meters of sand from a land plot belonging to H.F. LLC in the Chandir mahalla. This caused 253.5 million soums in damage to state and public interests.

Criminal cases have been opened in connection with these incidents under Article 229 of the Criminal Code, which covers arbitrariness. Investigative actions are underway.

Earlier, individuals were detained in Samarkand region for causing nearly 300 billion soums in environmental damage through the illegal extraction of sand and gravel mixture.
