Former Chairman of Karakalpakstan Council of Ministers passes away

Amin Hamroyevich Tojiyev, a prominent statesman, public figure and labor veteran who devoted his life and career to the development of the country’s agricultural sector, passed away on June 4, at the age of 79. The President of Uzbekistan expressed condolences over his death, the presidential press secretary reported.

For reference, Amin Tojiyev was born on April 12, 1947, in Tortkol district. After finishing secondary school, he graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, now the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers National Research University, with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He began his career in 1968 as a safety engineer at the Al-Khwarizmi collective farm in Tortkol district. He later held senior positions in Tortkol, Ellikkala and Amudarya districts.

Known for his strong organizational skills, Tojiyev worked in several senior posts, including Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Minister of Agriculture, Head of the Forestry Department and First Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan’s State Agro-Industrial Committee.

During more than 50 years of service, Tojiyev contributed to the socio-economic development of the Aral Sea region under difficult conditions, helping create infrastructure networks and improve the living standards of the population.

In particular, he played an active role in the construction of the Tuyamuyin–Nukus–Takhtakupir irrigation network, as well as many social and cultural facilities, to help address water shortages.

Even after retirement, Tojiyev remained active in the social life of Karakalpakstan. He shared his extensive knowledge and experience in projects aimed at improving the ecological environment, creating better living conditions for residents, carrying out large-scale construction, landscaping and greening works, protecting the interests of the older generation, and educating young people in the spirit of love and devotion to the homeland.

Tojiyev’s services to the country’s development were recognized by the state. He was awarded the El-yurt hurmati, Dustlik and Mehnat shuhrati orders, as well as the honorary title of Honored Mechanizer of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

“The memory of Amin Hamroyevich Tojiyev, a prominent statesman and public figure, a kind mentor to young people, and a sincere and modest person, will always remain in our hearts,” the condolence letter said.
