A definitive list of administrative offenses that may be detected using automated photo and video recording systems has been approved in Uzbekistan. The provisions are set out in amendments and additions to the Code of Administrative Responsibility introduced by Law No. 1116 of the Republic of Uzbekistan, adopted on February 4.
Under the law, the following administrative violations may be recorded using special automated photo and video recording devices, among others:
- failure to comply with seat belt requirements;
- use of a mobile phone while driving;
- exceeding the установлен speed limit by no more than 20 km/h;
- violations of stopping or parking rules.
The time limits for imposing penalties for these offenses have also been clearly defined.
If a traffic violation is recorded using photo or video recording systems, an administrative penalty must be imposed no later than one month from the date the offense was committed.
If an appeal is filed against the decision to impose administrative liability, the penalty may be applied no later than one year from the date the offense was committed.
Earlier, it was reported that as of February 1 this year, the requirement to attend theoretical classes when obtaining a driver’s license has been abolished in Uzbekistan.
