Timur Kapadze to serve as an assistant coach on Fabio Cannavaro’s staff

The former head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Temur Kapadze, will serve as an assistant coach in the new staff led by Italian specialist Fabio Cannavaro. This was reported by a QALAMPIR.UZ correspondent today, October 6, during the press conference held at the National Football Center.

It is known that today, October 6, the Uzbekistan Football Association signed a contract with Italian specialist Fabio Cannavaro. In Cannavaro’s coaching staff, along with Temur Kapadze, the following specialists will also assist him:
- Eugenio Albarella — assistant coach (previously worked with the Japan national team, Juventus, Udinese, and Dinamo Zagreb);
- Francesco Troise — fitness coach (has worked at Benevento, Udinese, and Dinamo Zagreb);
- Antonio Chimenti — goalkeeping coach (previously served with Italy’s youth national team, Sampdoria, and SPAL).
Temur Kapadze led Uzbekistan’s U-23 national team to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He also won the silver medal at the Asian Cup with the same team. In January this year, Kapadze was appointed head coach of the national team and guided Uzbekistan to its first-ever qualification for the World Cup.
The newly appointed head coach, Fabio Cannavaro, began his managerial career after retiring from professional football, leading several clubs in the Middle East and China. In 2019, he was appointed as the head coach of the Chinese national team. From 2022 to 2023, Cannavaro managed the Italian club Benevento. In April 2024, he took charge of Italy’s Udinese for a brief period. Following that, he also worked as the head coach of Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb.
