Singer Sardor Mamadaliev has been fined for using a poem without obtaining permission from the copyright holder. According to the Ministry of Justice, Mamadaliev performed the poem “Sevilmagan yor kerak menga (I need an unloved sweetheart)” by Fergana poet Ilhomjon Kamilov without authorization or a formal agreement.
An administrative offense report was filed against the singer under Article 177¹ of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (violation of copyright and related rights) and submitted to the relevant court.
The Sergeli District Court for Criminal Cases in Tashkent ruled to fine Mamadaliev 750,000 sums—equivalent to two times the basic calculation amount—under Part 1 of Article 177¹ of the Administrative Code.
This is not the first such incident. Earlier, poet Shohrukh Abduvokhidov, known by the pseudonym “Abdussamiy,” filed a complaint against singer Botir Kadirov for using his poems without paying the appropriate royalties. In that case, the Chilonzor District Court for Criminal Cases fined the offender 3 million sums, which is eight times the basic amount, under Part 2 of the same article.
