Constitutional court judge dies after falling from ninth floor

On January 13, a judge of Tajikistan’s Constitutional Court, Jamshid Jamshidzoda, died after falling from the ninth floor of a building, AsiaPlus reported.
According to witnesses, it is not yet clear whether the incident was the result of an accident or a suicide. A police representative declined to provide further details, confirming only that a criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident.
The 52-year-old Jamshidzoda was appointed as a judge of the Constitutional Court in 2019 under a quota allocated to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, following a recommendation by President Emomali Rahmon.
Prior to his appointment, he worked for many years in the country’s research institutions and served as a member of the Central Election Commission from 2011 to 2019. He held a кандидат of legal sciences degree. The deceased is survived by three children.
It is worth recalling that earlier, a 22-year-old man in the city of Termez, Surkhandarya Region, died after jumping from the roof of a 16-storey building.
