President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, on October 15, visited a rice-growing cluster in the Kuyichirchiq district of the Tashkent region. The presidential press service reported this.

It was noted that in the past, rice farmers operated in a fragmented manner, which prevented them from earning decent profits. In particular, there were many challenges in rice processing. In recent years, due to special attention given to the sector, significant qualitative changes have taken place, and efficiency has increased.

For instance, in the Tashkent region, 8,700 hectares of rice were planted for this year’s harvest. Laser leveling technology was applied to 3,000 hectares to save water. As a result, 60 million cubic meters of water were conserved across the region, and seed consumption decreased by 522 tons.

Currently, rice has been harvested from 985 hectares, with an average yield of 65–70 centners per hectare, and in some fields, yields reached 80–85 centners per hectare.

The Head of State also met with farmers and agricultural veterans at the site. They noted that due to high-yield varieties and modern agrotechnologies, labor efficiency and profitability have been steadily increasing.

’’Today, in all sectors, we rely on science, innovation, and advanced technologies. In agriculture, if we had not introduced market principles and worked to increase income, we would not have achieved the current yields. Recently, climate change has caused water shortages. Farmers now need to adapt, learn drip irrigation, and use water efficiently,’’ the President said.

He emphasized the importance of studying foreign experience in the field and using science to improve labor productivity. Officials were given instructions to increase the cultivation of high-yield varieties, strengthen processing, make effective use of water-saving technologies, and create new jobs.

It is worth noting that earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Yakkasaray district of Tashkent city to inspect the reconstruction works carried out on Shota Rustaveli Street. Together with representatives of state and public organizations, he traveled by bus to observe the newly created conveniences and held a sincere conversation with passengers.
