Mirziyoyev to visit Turkmenistan for UN Conference

At the invitation of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will pay a working visit to Turkmenistan on August 4–5 to participate in the events of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This was reported by the presidential press service.

The event, which will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, will be attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, as well as heads of state and government, and representatives of international and regional organizations.

The conference agenda includes pressing issues such as strengthening transport connectivity, simplifying trade procedures, supporting economic transformation, boosting resilience to climate change and environmental risks, and enhancing international cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The Avaza Political Declaration and an accompanying Action Program are expected to be adopted.

As part of his visit, the Uzbek president will also take part in an event dedicated to preparations for the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and will hold a number of bilateral meetings.
