Earlier, reports stated that religious scholar and blogger, founder of the Azon Global information and analytical portal, Mubashshir Ahmad (Alisher Tursunov), was being held in harsh conditions at a penal colony in Navoi despite serious health issues. Against this backdrop, the regional representative of the Oliy Majlis Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in Navoi Region conducted a monitoring visit to Penal Colony No. 5 in the region.
According to the information, during the visit, the health condition and detention conditions of inmate A.T. (Mubashshir Ahmad), who is serving his sentence at the colony, were examined.

During the monitoring, individual interviews were conducted with inmates, including inmate A.T., and his medical records were reviewed.

A.T. stated that he has no complaints regarding the provision of medical care at the facility, noting that he regularly undergoes full medical examinations. He added that while there have been some changes in his health due to pre-existing conditions, he is receiving the necessary medical treatment.
It was also noted that the inmate is engaged in labor at the facility voluntarily, working in the kitchen, and that he is not subjected to work beyond the hours stipulated by law. According to him, the working conditions comply with labor protection regulations.

Tursunov did not express any complaints regarding food provision or living conditions. He said that, taking into account his health condition, food is provided in accordance with the established norms.
During the individual interview, inmate A.T. did not submit any appeals or complaints on any issues.
For information, during previous monitoring visits to the same facility carried out by the Ombudsman’s regional representative in Navoi Region in November and December 2025, no appeals were submitted by inmate A.T. either.
It is worth noting that earlier Tursunov’s lawyer, Abdullah Sodiq, told QALAMPIR.UZ that Tursunov’s health condition was poor, that he has been suffering for many years from type II diabetes, and that requests had been filed stating that he should not be held in custody. However, these circumstances were not taken into account when determining the preventive measure and sentencing.
