Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded Uzbekistan’s Prosecutor General, Nigmatilla Yuldashev, with the Order of Friendship. The corresponding presidential decree was officially published.
Nigmatilla Yuldashev was born on November 5, 1962, in Tashkent. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Tashkent State University. Following the death of Uzbekistan’s First President, Islam Karimov, on September 2, 2016, Yuldashev was appointed Acting President of Uzbekistan in accordance with the Constitution and by a resolution of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis. On September 8, 2016, he announced the transfer of presidential powers to then-Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev. On June 20, 2019, by decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Yuldashev was appointed Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to Uzbek law, the term of office for the Prosecutor General is five years. As Yuldashev’s term expired in 2024, the issue of extending his mandate was reviewed by the Senate, and he was reappointed to the position. In August of this year, he was granted the special rank of State Counselor of Justice, 2nd Class.
It is worth noting that on November 18 last year, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the title of “Order of Friendship” to Uzbekistan’s People’s Artist Farrukh Zokirov. On May 29 this year, Zokirov was formally presented with the Russian Federation’s Order of Friendship.
