President nominates Robakhon Mahmudova for Supreme Court Chairperson

The President of Uzbekistan has submitted a proposal to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis to elect Robakhon Anvarovna Mahmudova as Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan.
For reference, Robakhon Anvarovna Mahmudova is Chairperson of the Political Council of the Adolat Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and head of the Adolat SDP faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
She was born on November 9, 1958, in Fergana district, Fergana region, into an intellectual family. In 1983, she graduated from the Faculty of Law of Tashkent State University.
During her career, she worked as head of the Fergana regional People’s Reception Office, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Science, Education and Healthcare, and First Deputy Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, Chairperson of the Judicial Collegium for Administrative Cases.
In 2023, she ran in the early presidential election as a candidate from the Adolat party and received 4.43% of the vote, finishing second after Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who was re-elected as Head of State. During the election campaign and election period, her judicial powers were suspended.
