Young man who died in Russian construction site identified as from Surkhandarya

Earlier, it was reported that a 23-year-old Uzbek citizen died in an accident at a construction site of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Judicial Department under the Supreme Court in Saint Petersburg. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Saint Petersburg has provided an official statement regarding the incident.

According to the statement, following measures taken by the Consulate General and the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan in Moscow, the deceased was identified as A.U., a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan born in 2001 in Surkhandarya region. He had been in Saint Petersburg since April of this year, working as a metal structures assembler.

On September 16 of this year, A.U. fell from a height of 15 meters while performing installation work at the aforementioned construction site and died. His body was later sent to a morgue. Investigators are currently conducting an inquiry into the incident, and the possibility of opening a criminal case is being considered.

It is reported that the Consulate General and the Migration Agency are in contact with the deceased’s relatives and are providing full assistance in repatriating his body to Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that a 30-year-old Uzbek man died in an accident at a mine in the Kuraginsky district of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, after being trapped under a landslide.
