Entrepreneurs planning to relocate their enterprises from Tashkent to Syrdarya will be offered land in industrial zones on simplified terms with discounts. This was announced today, 4 December, during an extraordinary session of the Syrdarya Regional Council of People’s Deputies, attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Industrial enterprises in Tashkent are gradually being moved outside the capital. Many of these companies are seeking locations with labor resources, infrastructure, and lower property taxes.
Syrdarya’s free economic zone offers significant opportunities to accommodate the capacities of Tashkent-based enterprises on available land. Therefore, entrepreneurs willing to relocate their businesses to Syrdarya will be provided with land in industrial zones on simplified and discounted terms.
In addition, they will be eligible for preferential loans of up to 10 billion soums. Reduced tariffs will also apply for transporting raw materials by rail.
Among the 1,140 industrial enterprises operating in Syrdarya, 129 are operating at low capacity. These companies often import components and spare parts from abroad or other regions of the country, making it difficult to remain cost-competitive.
It was noted that if components and spare parts are produced locally and cooperative production is established, costs could be reduced by up to 10 percent. Accordingly, a proposal to establish component manufacturing on 200 hectares adjoining the “Farovon” small industrial zone was supported. The area, located along a railway line with an existing power grid, does not require additional infrastructure investment. The regional administration has been tasked with launching localization projects worth 800 million dollars in this area.
Most medium and large enterprises in the region are concentrated in Syrdarya, Guliston, Saykhunobod, Mirzaobod districts, and Guliston city. Entrepreneurs have expressed interest in implementing new projects worth an additional 200 million dollars if the capacity of the “Feruz” substation, which supplies electricity to these enterprises, is doubled.
Officials have been instructed to install two 250-megawatt transformers at the substation to increase its capacity. Overall, the aim is to leverage industrial opportunities to create 25,000 high-income jobs, achieve at least 7 percent growth in production, and increase output to 30 trillion soums.
