On February 3, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan on a state visit, according to the Akorda press service.

“While flying through Pakistani airspace, the aircraft carrying the President of Kazakhstan was escorted by fighter jets of the Pakistani Air Force,” the statement said.

At Islamabad International Airport, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was welcomed by President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In honor of the high-ranking guest, a guard of honor was lined up at the airport, and a ceremonial 21-gun salute was fired.

In addition, a group of children holding the flags of Kazakhstan and Pakistan took part in the welcoming ceremony. High-level talks are scheduled to take place on February 4, during which the sides will discuss prospects for strengthening political, trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
