Uzbekistan will purchase C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft from Brazil’s Embraer company. This was officially announced by the company today, February 3, during an airshow held in Singapore.

According to the announcement, the Uzbekistan Air Force will primarily use the C-390 aircraft for transport and humanitarian missions, which will significantly enhance its operational capabilities. With this acquisition, Uzbekistan will become the first country in Central Asia to operate this next-generation aircraft, marking a major shift in the region’s military transport aviation sector.

“We are pleased to officially welcome the Uzbekistan Air Force into the group of C-390 operators as it modernizes its transport capabilities. It is a great honor for us that Uzbekistan, one of the leading air forces in Central Asia, has selected this aircraft. We will work closely with our partners to ensure the aircraft’s outstanding performance,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.

For reference, the C-390 Millennium, developed in the 21st century, is considered one of the most advanced military transport aircraft in its class. Compared to other medium-sized military transport aircraft, it can carry heavier payloads of up to 26 tons, fly faster, and cover longer distances. The aircraft is capable of performing a wide range of missions, including cargo and personnel transport, airdropping equipment and troops, medical evacuation, search and rescue operations, firefighting, and humanitarian missions. It can also operate from temporary or unpaved runways. In the KC-390 configuration, equipped with rapidly installable air-to-air refueling systems, the aircraft can function both as a refueling tanker and as a receiver of fuel.
