Heads of the special services of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan meet in Ferghana

Yesterday, May 6, saw a gathering in Ferghana where Abdusalom Azizov, head of Uzbekistan's State Security Service, Qamchibek Tashiyev, Kyrgyzstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Committee for National Security, and Saymo'min Yatimov, head of Tajikistan's National Security Service, met. The Uzbek State Security Service reported this.

It's highlighted that the discussions encompassed all aspects of regional security.

The talks involved dialogues on current and future cooperation in crucial domains such as counterterrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, migration, smuggling, and other transnational threats.

Furthermore, discussions touched upon fostering conducive environments for cross-border collaboration and fostering amicable relations between neighbors.

During the discussion, the topics concerning the definition of state borders between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, along with border demarcation matters between Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, were addressed constructively.

The State Security Service of Uzbekistan reported: “Agreements were reached among the meeting participants regarding the delineation of Kyrgyz-Tajik borders and expediting the demarcation of Uzbek-Kyrgyz state borders. Practical steps were outlined to address these issues, considering the mutual interests of all involved parties.”

At the conclusion of the talks, specific responsibilities were assigned to members of the Kyrgyz-Tajikistan Intergovernmental Commission. Their tasks include coordinating the remaining border sections and preparing and signing the respective
