Since the beginning of this year, 80.82 tons of cargo and 70,515 seedlings sent from Uzbekistan have not been imported into Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the ministry, in the first seven months of 2025, a total of 445.3 tons of cargo, over 70,000 seedlings, and 11,387 flowers imported from neighboring countries were rejected due to non-compliance with phytosanitary requirements.
The rejected imports included:
- From Kazakhstan – 193.9 tons;
- From Uzbekistan – 80.82 tons and 70,515 seedlings;
- From Russia – 69 tons;
- From China – 26.13 tons and 8,050 flowers;
- From other countries – 41.5 tons and 3,337 flowers.
Authorities applied measures such as returning, destroying, or neutralizing quarantined goods that violated phytosanitary rules. In addition, diplomatic notes were sent to China and the Netherlands regarding repeated violations.
It is worth noting that earlier 3.5 tons of pistachios from Uzbekistan were returned by Kyrgyzstan due to the absence of mandatory packaging markings. The ministry also noted that an average of five to six daily cases are recorded in which hand luggage carried by Uzbek citizens fails to meet plant quarantine requirements.
