Citizens of Uzbekistan who follow a five-day workweek will enjoy three consecutive days off to mark Constitution Day on December 8. This arrangement is outlined in the presidential decree “On Establishing Additional Non-Working Days and Moving Weekends During the Celebration of Official Dates in 2024.”
Since December 8, 2024, falls on a Sunday, the public holiday will be observed on the following day, Monday, December 9. As a result:
- Saturday, December 7, will be a regular day off for those working a five-day week.
- Sunday, December 8, will be observed as Constitution Day.
- Monday, December 9, will be an additional day off for everyone.
The decree also stipulates additional days off for the New Year. Monday, December 30, and Tuesday, December 31, will be non-working days. For those on a six-day workweek, December 30 will be an extra holiday. For five-day workweek employees, December 30 will also be a day off, but they will work on Saturday, December 14, as compensation. December 31 will be a holiday for all.
New Year's Day, January 1, 2025, will also be a public holiday. Further details about the length of the New Year holidays are expected after a new presidential decree on days off is issued.
It is worth recalling that similar arrangements were made for Independence Day earlier this year.
