The regional Traffic Safety Department has addressed the criticism made by People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Jenisbek Piyazov, who was caught speeding four times within 15 minutes by radar in the Tashkent region.
According to the Traffic Safety Department, stationary (mounted on fixed poles) and mobile radar complexes, as well as automated photo and video recording equipment installed on patrol cars, are used in the region to monitor traffic and prevent accidents.
Piyazov had claimed in a video message that he was fined four times by a single mobile radar system while driving on the road.
In response, the Traffic Safety Department explained that Piyazov's vehicle was recorded by stationary radars at kilometers 45 and 50 on the “Chorbagh Korgoni” highway, and by two mobile radar complexes operating at kilometers 24 and 31. The department stated that these radars recorded the vehicle exceeding the speed limit and violating traffic rules.
“Therefore, separate fines were issued for each violation in accordance with the procedure established by our legislation,” the department clarified.
Piyazov had previously expressed his concerns about the fines, stating that while he would pay the penalties, the financial burden was significant for ordinary citizens. He pointed out that such fines could be particularly challenging for people living on salaries.
