In Uzbekistan, daily revenues at fuel stations rose sharply after the transition to cashless payments on April 1 this year. This was reported by the Central Bank.

According to the data, the average daily revenue in March amounted to 102.6 billion soums. Of this total, cash payments accounted for 58.1 percent, while cashless payments made up 41.9 percent. On April 1, the figure stood at 93.2 billion soums, and by April 2 it had climbed to 152.6 billion soums.

Nearly 90 percent of one-day cashless revenues came from existing bank cards. Most of these payments were made through QR codes.

Cashless payment indicators for April 1 and 2 were reported as follows:

Payments via QR codes:

  • April 1: 8.2 billion soums;
  • April 2: 7.7 billion soums.

Payments via instant cards:

  • April 1: 1.6 billion soums;
  • April 2: 3.6 billion soums, marking a sharp increase.

Payments via fuel cards:

  • April 1: 2.4 billion soums;
  • April 2: 2.5 billion soums.

Payments via existing bank cards:

  • April 1: 80.9 billion soums;
  • April 2: 138.6 billion soums.

At present, banks and payment organizations are actively introducing various promotions, cashback programs, and new payment methods, including instant and special-purpose cards.

The Central Bank also said that if questions arise regarding payments or banking services, citizens may contact the call centers of the relevant banks and payment organizations.

For reference, instant cards are bank cards that can be used immediately after they are issued, without waiting for a separate account setup or fund activation period.

It is worth noting that earlier it was announced that, starting from April 1 in Uzbekistan, the sale of oil and gas products to the public through fuel stations, as well as services for charging electric vehicles, would be carried out only in cashless form.
