Uzbekistan national team defender and Rizespor player Husniddin Alikulov has sustained a serious injury during a match against Göztepe and may miss the World Championship. The club’s press service reported this.
Alikulov was forced to leave the pitch after suffering a serious injury in the match against Göztepe on January 19.
Medical examinations and analyses revealed that Alikulov sustained a tear of the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his left knee, patellar subluxation, resulting in damage to the MPFL (medial patellofemoral ligament), as well as tears in both the medial and lateral meniscus, accompanied by bleeding and swelling. As a result, surgery has been deemed necessary. His expected recovery period has been estimated at approximately six to nine months.
Due to this injury, the likelihood that the Uzbek defender will miss the World Championship scheduled to take place this summer is considered very high.
For reference, Husniddin Alikulov also missed the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar due to injury.
